How to Use a Jump Starter
Step 1: Get Ready
Most portable jump starters come with some battery power from the factory, but make sure to fully charge it before using it.
Also, ensure your car is turned off before using the jump starter power bank. This step is crucial to prevent power surges or accidents when setting up the jump starter.
Step 2: Connect the Jump Starter
First, open the hood of your car, find the battery, and connect it to the jump starter.
Second, connect the jump starter's red terminal to your car battery's positive terminal, ensuring the connection is secure.
Finally, connect the black terminal to the negative terminal of your car or a ground point, ensuring the connection is secure. To prevent short circuits, avoid the clamps touching any metal parts.
A light will usually illuminate if a connection error occurs, or a chime will sound.
Step 3: Start the Jump Starter
Once the cable clamps are in place, turn on the car jump starter. Do not start the car at this point. It is essential to allow some time for the starter to transfer power to the car battery.
Step 4: Start a Vehicle with a Dead Battery
After waiting a few minutes for the jump starter to charge the car battery, you can try to start the car engine. If your car does not start immediately, wait a few minutes before trying again. (Sometimes, it takes longer for the battery to accumulate enough power.) Be careful not to make multiple attempts to avoid damaging the device.
Step 5: Remove the Starter
After the car starts, turn off the jump starter. Carefully remove the clamps in reverse order: first, the black clamp, then the red clamp.
